Profitabel: Apple zieht an Nokia vorbei

Zwar ist die Information ist mit Vorsicht zu Genießen – die auf telephonyonline veröffentlichten Zahlen beziehen sich nicht auf offizielle Umsatz-Veröffentlichungen sonder auf die Annahmen der Markt-Analytiker von Strategy Analytics – dürfte in den kommenden Tagen aber für einige Furore sorgen. So könnte Apple im dritten Quartal 2009 erstmals mehr Profit auf dem Mobiltelefonmarkt eingefahren haben, als der Langzeit-Platzhirsch Nokia. Mit einem operativen Gewinn von 1.6 Milliarden US-Dollar würde Apple gut 500 Millionen mehr als Nokia (1.1 Milliarde) erwirtschaftet haben.

„The firm estimates that Apple’s iPhone operating profit came in at $1.6 billion in Q3, while Nokia recorded only $1.1 billion in operating profit. „With strong volumes, high wholesale prices and tight cost controls, the PC vendor has successfully broken into the mobile phone market in just two years,“ said analyst Alex Spektor in the research note.„

Trotz dem geringen Marktanteil von nur einem Prozent, konnte Apple bereits 2008 ganze 20% der am Markt erzielten Gewinne für sich verbuchen. Nokia lag 2008 noch bei 55%.
