HD-Video: Nächste iPhone-Generation mit 720p Kamera-Modul

Engadget zaubert die hier aufgetauchten Plist-Dateien mit den vermeindlichen Codenamen der nächsten iPhone bzw. iPod touch Generation noch mal aus dem Hut. Ein Tippgeber habe das Tech-Blog auf die in der „MediaValidator.plist“ abgelegten Informationen hingewiesen. Diese sollen auf den Kamera-Support von 1280 x 720 Pixel großen, Full-HD Videos hindeuten.

Über ein extern angeschlossenes Display ist das iPhone bereits jetzt in der Lage, Full-HD Videos zu encoden uns auszugeben – die Auflösung selbstaufgenommener Filme ist bislang jedoch auf den VGA-Standard (640×480 Pixel) beschränkt. Ein HD-Kameramodul würde das iPhone also deutlich aufwerten und könnte ein wichtiger Puzzlestein im hier als „A+“-Update beschriebenen Generations-Wechsel werden.

„We’ve been tipped off that a gander at the MediaValidator.plist file reveals a few telling stats: the maximum video width is up from 768 pixels to 1280, and the maximum number of pixels per frame is up to 921,600, which just happens to work out to 1280 x 720. The device’s AVC profile has been bumped from 3.0 to 3.1, too, which adds in support for 720p — so yeah, all the signs are there, and industry trends pretty much require that we expect it at this point.“
