Apple widerlegt Explosionsberichte

Skepsis war angebracht, dies wird laut Ars Technica jetzt von Apple bestätigt:

To date, there are no confirmed battery overheating incidents for iPhone 3GS and the number of reports we are investigating is in the single digits,“ according to Apple in a statement released to the press. „The iPhones with broken glass that we have analysed to date show that in all cases the glass cracked due to an external force that was applied to the iPhone.

Damit werden die Geschichten um angeblich explodierte iPhones erst einmal widerlegt, schuld für die Beschädigungen ist offensichtlich Gewalteinwirkung oder Druck auf das Display. Apple gab dieses Statement als offizielle Antwort auf eine Nachfrage der Europäischen Commission und dazu noch gegenüber dem französischen Ministerium für Verbraucherschutz ab – eine nicht fundierte oder gar bewusst falsche Auskunft hätte wohl verheerende Folgen.
