700 Millionen: WhatsApp mit neuer Rekordmarke

Jan Koum, trotz Facebook-Übernahme weiterhin Chef des Kurznachrichten-Dienstes WhatsApp, hat auf seinem persönlichen Profil im weltweit größten sozialen Netzwerk aktuelle Zahlen zur Nutzung der kostenlosen SMS-Alternative vorgelegt.

Kurz zusammengefasst: Die 19-Milliarden-Dollar-Investition scheint sich weiter bezahlt zu machen. Derzeit zählt WhatsApp 700 Millionen aktive Nutzer pro Monat. Eine Zahl, die die 600 Millionen-Marke erst im August überschritt. Die Community, so Koum weiter, sendet 30 Milliarden Nachrichten am Tag bzw. 350.000 pro Sekunde.
